Carolyn Hancock
"Portraits, my first love in this art journey, started sharing my easel with seascapes during Covid isolation. Seascape books and videos popped into my studio, as I studied how water moves and how it looks on its journey.
"I think, though, that memory plays the biggest part in how I paint water-it seems like half of my life was spent in rivers, lakes, the Gulf Coast, and coastal countries throughout the world. When I'm painting, I can almost feel its movement, its energy and rhythm.
"And color! It's hard for me to paint muted, neutral tones. The colors I've seen in other countries influence my color selections, making me lean toward strong but clear colors, the turquoise and blues, the richness of siennas and ochres. They transport me between skin tones and salty seas.
"I'm offering a chance to win a seascape print. Check out the details at this link: https://www.carolynhancock.com/page/36738/free-print-offer
